Video shows several sharks feeding on dolphin off Southern California coast

Published Tue, 18 Feb 2025 23:23:06 GMT

A group of what appears to be juvenile sharks were caught on video at Torrey Pines State Beach feeding on a dolphin just off the coast. Park rangers say it's a good reminder of the predators flocking to San Diego beaches, especially as we enter the summer months. Around noon on Sunday, California State Parks responded to a notification of a shark spotted around 30-40 yards from shore near lifeguard tower No. 7. Video shows multiple sharks snacking on a dolphin which washed up along the beach a few minutes later. San Diego shark expert and oceanographer Manuel Lazcano calls the incident a good sign of a healthy environment. “The shark is the top predator of the ocean, and they will eat wounded animals and very young animals and they will attack them by surprise," Lazcano said. To practice safety, State Park Peace Officers posted shark warning signs along tower No. 7 High Bridge access point to the north boundary with Del Mar city. Study: Sharks nearby more than we think, are not ‘...

Victor Calderone is the Master of MATTER

Published Tue, 18 Feb 2025 23:23:06 GMT

Victor Calderone is the Master of MATTER: New York’s Victor Calderone got his start DJing and producing when he was inspired by his DJ older brother Cesare.“Growing up we shared a room together and I would just sit there listening to him DJ for hours,” Calderone says. “He eventually taught me how to play and I was hooked from that moment on. It wasn’t until the early ’90s I became interested in producing and partnered up with a good friend Gene La Fosse under the moniker Program 2. We eventually signed a record deal with Sire Records in 1992. I thought that was the moment my career had arrived, but it was short lived and fell apart. After a hiatus I got back in the studio in 1996 and I produced a solo track called ‘Give It Up’ that went number 1 on the Billboard charts. That led to working with Madonna and officially launched my career.”The artist says that his sound was massively influenced by ’90s NYC.“I have a deep refer...

It’s unclear how Fidelity arrived at its new, lower valuation or whether it receives any non-public information from the company.Fidelity first reduced the value of its Twitter stake in November, to 44% of the purchase price. That was followed by further markdowns in December and February.Twitter has struggled financially since Musk took over. After saddling the company with $13 billion of debt, Musk’s erratic decision making and challenges with content moderation led advertising revenue to decline by 50%, Musk said in March. An attempt to recoup that revenue by selling T...

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — A blast early Wednesday at a military base controlled by a Syria-backed Palestinian faction in eastern Lebanon killed five Palestinian militants and wounded 10 others, according to two Palestinian officials with the group. The faction said an Israeli airstrike caused the blast, but that account was disputed by an Israeli official, speaking on condition of anonymity, who denied the country had any role in the incident. Israel does not typically respond to foreign reports. In Beirut, a Lebanese military official said the explosion was the result of a blast within the base, adding that there was no airstrike. An official with a regional group allied with the Syrian government, said the explosion was the result of a “human error” that occurred when militants were handling ammunition. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity. Anwar Raja of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command, told The Associated Press in Damascus that the Israeli ...
