CHICAGO — A small addition to the Shedd Aquarium is big news for the rockhopper penguin population.Photo credit: ©Shedd Aquarium/Brenna HernandezThe Shedd has welcomed its first rockhopper chick in eight years. The currently unnamed baby penguin began breaking out of its egg on June 15 after 32 days of development. It was born to parents Edward and Annie who gained fame during the pandemic for taking part in penguin field trip videos and becoming the subject of their own children's book.Currently weighing-in at about two-pounds, the chick will spend time on exhibit with its parents and behind the scenes with Shedd caretakers. The man convicted of fatally shooting a 9-year-old girl who was jumping on a North Minneapolis trampoline in 2021 was sentenced Tuesday to 37½ years in prison.D’Pree Shareef Robinson, 20, received his sentence in Hennepin County District Court for the death of Trinity Ottoson-Smith, who was on a backyard trampoline at a friend’s birthday party when she was shot in the head on May 15, 2021. ST. LOUIS - A St. Louis County man appeared in federal court Tuesday to be sentenced for possession of tens of thousands of videos and images containing child pornography. Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Missouri said Christopher Cotton, 32, pleaded guilty in April to one count of receiving child pornography. But before sentencing, Cotton heard letters from victims describing their ongoing pain and grief, and fear they'll be recognized by people who've seen the pictures.“My sexual abuse occurred from the ages of 6-12. The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after deputies found a man’s body on the High Line Canal trail Tuesday morning.Just after 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, deputies from the sheriff’s office responded to a report of a man lying on the ground of the High Line Canal trail in the area of East Iliff Avenue and South Quebec Street.When deputies arrived, they found the man dead at the scene, deputy John Bartmann said. Investigators were called to the scene and are currently investigating the death as a homicide.According to Bartmann, investigators believe the man died within the last 24 hours.At this time, no information is being released on how the roughly 40-year-old man died.
